Hows things?
We have just seen some of my beautiful country out west and overseas and have taken in breathtaking wonders of the Palm Islands and Boulia country and Mt. Isa area where my grandmothers and my mothers dreaming places are from the desert sands which almost looks like your on the moon and the Isa after the rain is just so green and alive. Palm Island is wonderful and beautiful and exciting that it makes you want hold onto that moment of tranquility for some time after.
Whilst we were in Boulia, grandmothers country where the desert looks like you are on the moon, we visited the site of the native police barracks which is full of stories about what happened to the people and the town folks who allowed it to happen to the Aboriginal people.
The Aboriginal people remember it well and how thousands of kalkadoons and desert mob were slaughtered because of the native police who were set up and supervised by one white man, Eggleton whom they later killed. This war to be the dominant culture in Australia was won by the native police but because they were and still are Aboriginal they could never have equal rights in this country as this is a racist’s war .
Many of the Boulia Aboriginal residents who are the Pitta Pitta nation suffered also and were sent to Palm Island.
It’s very shocking to see what can happen to society when it succumbs to racist mentalities of this degree, to see the native police of today that have sold out their birthright and their children’s birthright to the government yet again for nothing.
Now their children must live a lie and believe in a lie because the parents have sold their soul . I thought that only happened to blues singers and had no idea that it was the government that you had to sell it to . This I can really see that there is no future for anyone black or white unless the Aboriginal people stand up for our children or grandchildren’s future and if we acccept the Europeans to take care of us, we should think again . We did expect this to happen of the mission because we had no choice in the matter but now we have a choice in the matter. So what do we do, what did we do? Unfortunately many have succumbed to the native police mentallity hoping they can get something before the next black person, but the white person will eventually get tired of them and then look to suck another culture of it’s heritage in and effort to be the trend setters of the day and boost their supremacy muscle to the world in an effort to justify their existence in this country .

Palm Island school children march against family violence.
A background and issues paper prepared by the
Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council
about the
Palm Island Alcohol Management Plan
May 2006
“We need real help for our people who are sick or who have suffered and now need support; a high school for our youth to get an education, to year 12; support for local business development; and, urgent support to address overcrowding and homelessness on Palm Island. We do not need, or want the State Government imposing these laws upon us without agreement or proper consultation. We will not accept the poor process and extreme penalties associated with these proposed restrictions and will oppose this Alcohol Management Plan to the highest level.”

“MOVEMENT” by Baganan. Water colour and felt pen.
Now we are going to Boulia.
Boulia is my country a place that time has forgotten but I have not forgotten my old grandfathers land and grandmother who lived and loved and made children and looked after them until the white man took them away to Palm Island so doing the round trip and seeing the land upon which my parents played sang and danced now I can have time to live upon my land and not only me but all of grandads and grandmothers children and grandchildren as we return to our country in murrie time. I realise a lot of my people are still there and as families do want to see our mob and share all the news with each other of our mob far away
and talk about the future of our grandfathers and grandmothers country
over and out

Baganan’s Message

“untitled” by Baganan charcoal on paper digitally tinted
Homeland movement is the movement of the people back to their forefathers and foremothers land . To walk in the footsteps of our people who have gone on before and who have looked after our lands since the beginning of time. Their remembrance will always go on in our hearts and to provide a way of looking after our people and our land for future generations of the Pitta Pitta and Kalakadoon children of these nations so they won’t have to suffer from disassociation of lands and identity crises themselves as the past two generations of stolen children and their children was because of forced removal from our lands.
To build new trading routes and maintain old trading routes
To dream new dances and maintain the old dances
To build new houses and maintain the Old house
To teach new ways and maintain the old ways
To plant new trees and maintain the old trees
To dance on new coroboree grounds a
And maintian the old corroboree grounds
To break the malnutrition cycle by eating our foods
To bury our people on their lands
To birth our children ’s childrens on our lands
Aboriginal women reclaiming culture and land
The Aboriginal women is back from desolation, isolation, domestication and colonisation and she is looking to take care of her business in a way that has always been taught to her from her Aboriginal mother the love and life of us all through times of starvations our mothers would cook up bush food thrown in to get us through the hard times, as the colonisation of our people and our lands eroded our economics and structures that took since the beginning of time to put into place. Within the 200 years there has been alien sets of values and foreign rules that have always left the Aboriginal women and her children her husband were the most at risks the Aboriginal women have seen the disintegration of her nation as she maintains the family structures for future generations.
Aborigininity in Sustainability is the operation of Aboriginal women’s life stories . As the earth is our mother there is no one better to understand then an Aboriginal women who had the privilege of having an Aboriginal mother as this is right, and a very fulfilled time of learning about her people , women’s being have brought life and have sustained life
The mothers have been exposed to western values and standard and have been able to get ride of the bullshit and replace it with sound enlightenment of who they are.
